Jim Dix began formal music education in 3rd grade with studies on violin and
piano. In high school, he began performing professionally on trumpet and voice.

Jim went on to study voice, trumpet and keyboard at Florida Atlantic University, while performing with varied professional groups ranging from rock bands, vocal jazz ensembles and jazz combos, to the Florida Symphonic Pops.

In 1992, Jim moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music, focusing on songwriting and vocal performance. There he continued singing vocal jazz as tenor and soloist in the Berklee Advanced Vocal Jazz Ensemble and Vocal Jazz Recording Quartet.

In 2003, Jim released his debut solo album, Flowers from Eden, combining elements of R&B, Funk, Rock, and Jazz in all original songs.

From 2004 to 2013, he worked extensively with Gaffney Productions, performing on lead and backing vocals, trumpet, and keyboard at festivals, corporate, and private events.

From 2013 to present, Jim has worked with Private Stock, a top notch private event band out of South Florida, performing on lead and backing vocals, trumpet, keyboard, guitar, and bass, in venues all over the U.S., and internationally.
