Jim Dix is a full time professional singer, performing in many types of venues and styles, ranging from festivals and civic events to weddings and corporate events, as well as nightclubs and private parties.

In addition to being a very active performer, Jim also offers private instruction for voice and trumpet. With the combination of formal music education and a long and ongoing career as a performing and recording artist, Jim is able to guide students to bring the technical and practical aspects of music performance into sharp and effective focus.

Jim's vocal studies began with five years of classical training with Maria Ward-Heslop, graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London. Further studies also include vocal jazz studies at Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami, and University of Western Michigan.

Moving to Boston, Jim continued his voice studies at Berklee College of Music, and upon returning to South Florida, began an extensive program of private study with Mary Walkley, a 5th Level Speech Level Singing instructor in Miami.

Jim has also worked with Mary on techniques of teaching voice, and continues his studies with Mary Walkley to maintain ongoing growth and refinement of his understanding of vocal tecnique and performance.

Jim teaches voice in his private studio in Delray Beach, Florida. Rates are $60 for a one hour lesson or $30 for a half hour lesson.

Group lessons are available, as are master classes and clinics with Jim and Mary Walkley.
